John and Nancy had five children:
Almiranda Burleson (Married Ben D. Loper)
Nancy Elizabeth Burleson (Married Reese Davis)
Sally Burleson (Married Huett Miller)
David Pope Burleson (Died at age 14)

John R. Burleson's parents were: David Franklin Burleson, Jr. (8/17/85 NC-4/8/56 TX) and Sarah Ruthie Hobson (1785 NC-12/1/64 TX). They were married on March 8, 1805 in Rutherford, TN. He is buried in Burleson Cemetery, Leon County, TX.

The first letter, first page Reason Milford Sr. wrote to Joseph Adams Pope he writes "Wish I could see Gran" (this is a term that our family used for Grandmother)
