John Robert Copeland 15 years of age was dismissed from the Army at Tar River, North Carolina after the Civil War.  He came out of the war an orphan.  He went to Pine Level Alabama as a boy and worked for  $2.00 a month. His son was Cleveland Copeland and he told this to Viola Huff in 1965, when she visited him

Hubbard D. Copeland's Grandfather ----(no picture)-------------John Robert Copeland Enlisted March 10 1863 in Troy Alabama he was in Clanton's Company Light Artillery battery, Capt N. H. Clanton was organized in Montgomery county in June, 1863, and was attached to General Clanton's brigade. It was for a time at Pollard and Mobile, was ordered to Gadsen, and served in northern and central Alabama and Georgia. Part of it was engaged near Rome, Ga. It was in the neighbor hood of Columbus, Ga., at the close of the war. This command was organized at Pine Level, in Montgomery, June 1863, and composed of men from that and adjoining counties. Attached to Gen. Clanton's brigade, the battery was at Pollard and Mobile for some time, then in northeast Alabama and north Georgia. One section was engaged in a fight at Rome, and the battery fought at Girard, where the guns were captured. Thanks to Paula Dollins for Carlos Copeland's Picture James Carlos Copeland was only eight years old. He is buried in Old Fort Belknap Town Cemetery (this is also near Fort Belknap Military Cemetery), very close to Newcastle in Young County. Lois Davis described it as not being very far from the John W. Copeland farm. James Carlos Copeland's broken grave marker. The grave marker is in the Fort Belknap Town Cemetery located about 1/4 mile East of Fort Belnap and is not to be confused with the Old Military Cemetery and the marker has been repaired by Brian Davis a Great Nephew and His Sister Dara (Davis) Spring.

Andrew Jackson Porter, born Dec. 17, 1854, died Jan. 29, 1905 grave stone at a private owned Cemetery named "Preachers's Cemetery" after the family named Preacher, that owns the property close to Hico, Texas. He died at Fairy, Tx. South of Hico. He was run over by a mule drawn wagon. Andrew Jackson Porter's wife-Mary Alice Muse . Father Andrew Jackson Porter History says he drown in the Guadalope River in Texas about 1859/1860. Mother -Polly Renee (Rena) Cowan. Polly's second husband was McKenzie. Polly Renee was buried on the Brazos and when Lake Whitney was built the grave was moved to a Cementry at Hillsburogh, Texas. The stone marker just has McKenzie on it.
